The wind season in Puerto Rico usually starts December and runs till the end of August.
During the wind season in the North coast of Puerto Rico, we can expect winds from the north east in the range of 16 to 22 knots which are ideal for kitesurfing, kiteboarding, or windsurfing.
In San Juan, the ideal months for kitesurfing, kiteboarding or windsurfing is from December thru the end of August. During December to Mid-April, we can expect medium to heavy choppy water conditions.
The surf and Kitesurfing seasons are from December to Mid-April. In the San Juan area, we have pretty good spots for surfing or kitesurfing but if you have good skills you can go to Isabella or Aguadilla (Montones beach, Shacks beach etc.).
In the southern coast of Puerto Rico lie the cities of Guayama, Salinas, Ponce and Parguera where the wind season is the same, but the wind average is 18 to 25 knots with more consistent windy days.
During Mid-August thru October, is the peak for hurricane season. A single tropical storm or hurricane in the vicinity can impact the wind condition in Puerto Rico for weeks.
The peak of the rain season in Puerto Rico goes from May to June. During these months, we can expect to have 2 or 3 days per week of intermittent rain.
The drier season lasts approximately 5 months, which is from December to May.

The average water temperature experiences some seasonal variation over the course of the year.
The time of year with warmer water lasts for 3.3 months, which is from August 2 to November 12, with an average temperature above 83°F. The day of the year with the warmest water is September 27, with an average temperature of 84°F.
The time of year with cooler water lasts for 3.3 months, which is from January 8 to April 16, with an average temperature below 80°F. The day of the year with the coolest water is February 27, with an average temperature of 79°F.
